SILVINO FERREIRA JR was born in Ipirá, a small town in Bahia but grown up in Recife both in the Northeast of Brazil.
He is an awarded copywriter and poet.
As a copywriter, he has worked for major advertising agencies in Brazil and Portugal, such as Young & Rubicam, DM9DDB, Talent, TBWA, JWT. As a poet, he has self-published collections of poetry since 1985.
His interest in poetry came from his childhood when he used to declaim poems at the Baptist church where his father was a vicar. Later he would be influenced by names like João Cabral de Melo Neto, William Carlos William, E. E. Cummings, amongst others. “Virtual”, his fifth book, brings together poems that use elements taken from the digital language to address universal themes, as well as his relationship with London, where he has lived since 2006, and the conflicts between his mother tongue and his adopted language, English.
He and his English wife, Susan Ferreira, are the founders of Canallondres.tv, an online Tv Channel producing content about Brazilians in Europe, which they manage.
