“Color possesses me. I don’t have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter “Paul Klee (1879–1940), The Diaries of Paul Klee 1898-1918, entry for April 16, 1914 (1957, trans. 1965).
French born, educated in Paris and Britain, LAC’s first solo exhibition took place in India in 2003. After 10 years in Asia, she came back to London. Shuttling between countries and cultures, LAC gives herself the freedom to select materials from changing contexts, the result being a very distinctive style built on mixed media, layering techniques and a bold use of colour.
Since 2015, LAC develops a consistent body of work inspired by her immediate environment, London, which is the embodiment of all the cities in permanent flux she lived in, visited or imagined. Her urban landscapes are created out of many memories rather than an exact depiction, expressing a very personal experience of the 21st century urban world.
Part of the Make Space Studios in SE1 since 2011, LAC has been involved in many group exhibitions in the UK and Europe. In 2019, Lac presented 2 solo shows at the Brompton Chapel in London and B gallery in Paris while her Urban landscapes were selected for juried exhibition by the Bermondsey Project Space and the Chelsea Art Society. In 2020, her work appeared in two juried exhibitions "Your Landscape” by the Q collective and “Inner World” by the Boomer Gallery.
