James Morgan Williams

James Morgan Williams is a painter living and working on the North East coast. He is renowned for his dramatic seascapes and powerful narrative work.

James has drawn and painted for as long as he can remember. He grew up surrounded by artists and comes from a long line of painters including the Golden Age illustrator Paul Woodroffe. His work has featured in numerous exhibitions and publications and is becoming increasingly sought-after.

Perhaps what makes his work so popular is its marriage of emotive passion and academic excellence. James tells us, 'The physical world gives rise to much of our vocabulary, literary or visual. When we attempt to express abstract concepts, we do so through metaphor grounded in physical experience. I paint emotions using the figurative vocabulary of the physical world.'

James exhibits regularly, locally, nationally and internationally. New work is posted regularly on both his Facebook page and his website.
