Heather Burns

I studied Fine Art at Leeds University. After that I took my Art Teacher's Certificate there, and took my first teaching post at one of the Cambridgeshire Village Colleges for 3 years.

In 1987 I moved to Clitheroe in Lancashire and started teaching Art at the Grammar school there. I've exhibited my work at The Old Fire Engine House, Ely , Cambridgeshire and The Haworth Gallery Accrington in Lancashire.

I'm currently enjoying collaborative work with the Cambridge based arts group Artipeeps, and have produced a painting interpreting Book VII of Ovid's 'Metamorphoses'. This will go on show along with 30 other creative’s work from across the world reinterpreting Ovid's famous book, at Hanse House Kings Lynn Norfolk in September this year.

I am primarily a colourist interested in landscape. Lately I have been working in oil on canvas again after a period exploring acrylics. I am interested in gestural marks and like to work on a range of scales and surfaces. I currently show my work at my brother’s gallery 'The Little Bird Gallery' in Askham, Cumbria.

I really enjoy using social media to share my process, connect with other artists and build an audience for my work.
