Carolyn V Bushell

Carolyn V Bushell based in the UK and Berlin is inspired and motivated by ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’; the art schools and movements of Munich, Dresden and Berlin emanating from the Weimar Culture.

Carolyn’s work explores the connection between visual art and music, using vivid colour and expressive, emotional tension symbolic with a spontaneous approach to painting.

Carolyn completed her education in North London, being awarded the Annual Art Prize in her final year. Relocating to Northamptonshire Carolyn concentrated upon building up a portfolio of artwork to exhibit.

Carolyn’s first exhibition took place at Boughton House in 1996 where she had been commissioned by The Prince’s Trust to present a landscape in pastels to The 9th Duke of Buccleuch and 11th Duke of Queensberry.
The Duke of Buccleuch personally purchased another pastel depicting the Duke’s personal study. Both works remain at Boughton House.

“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.” ― Oscar Wilde The Picture of Dorian Gray
